RoleThe Safety Manager is responsible for implementing the QE Solar Health and Safety program, planning and executing safety initiatives to maintain a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. The Safety Manager supports QE Solar operations to ensure all staff conduct work safely for the protection of employees, clients, subcontractors, and the public. The Safety Manager ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, county, and local safety regulations.
The Safety Manager demonstrates leadership, teamwork, strong communication, and a commitment to enriching QE Solar Safety Culture. The Safety Manager reports directly to the Safety Director and maintains proactive, frequent, and open communication.
- Risk Management:
Work with the Safety Director and Managers to cultivate QE Solar Safety culture. Provide health and safety leadership and direction to all QE staff. Serve as a contact on health and safety issues. Provide recommendations and assistance to QE Solar Field Operations Managers regarding job site hazards, employee training, equipment operation, and safe material or substance utilization. - Compliance & Claims:
Ensure compliance with the corporate worker’s compensation program; investigate and resolve claims in a timely and cost-effective manner. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with QE Solar Clients, Site Health and Safety Managers, Managers, local representatives, and subcontractors. - HAZARD & HASP:
Create, manage, and review site-specific health and safety plans (HASP). Appraise and implement new safety policies and procedures related to QE Solar operations. Ensure staff are trained in emergency response procedures. Act as internal incident manager for safety emergencies and injuries. Administer HASP orientation for new staff and client personnel as applicable. - Training & Audits:
Assist in developing and delivering training programs on work site safety practices, safe equipment operation, and fire prevention. Facilitate First Aid and CPR training. Maintain training records and ensure new employees receive safety instructions prior to starting work. - Risk & Subcontractor Programs:
Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with QE Solar, OSHA, and NFPA requirements. Participate in Monthly Safety meetings with field personnel. Conduct safety audits and provide corrective actions to promote worker and public safety. - Proposal Support:
Assist in preparing new work proposals as solicitations relate to corporate health and safety objectives.
- Develop and present programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, safe equipment operation, and fire prevention for job sites and offices.
- Facilitate employee training in First Aid and CPR.
- Maintain training records and ensure new employees receive safety instructions.
- Assist with risk management planning, safety policies, and procedures to comply with federal, state, county, and local rules for field and office operations.
- Act as a point of contact for federal, state, or municipal safety or risk management authorities (e.g., OSHA).
- Manage and oversee motor vehicle fleet safety program and conduct driver background investigations.
- Maintain third-party qualification sites: ISNetworld and Avetta.
- Represent QE Solar in community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Maintain a constructive work atmosphere with clients, subcontractors, co-workers, and management.
- Regularly communicate with Managers to apprisethem of pertinent safety issues.
