Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Description: The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing the QE Solar Health and Safety program. The Safety Manager will assist with planning and implementation of the QE Solar Health and Safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident‑free work environment. The Safety Manager supports QE Solar operations in ensuring all QE staff are conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public.

The Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and local safety related regulations. The Safety Manager demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and strives to enrich QE Solar Safety Culture.

The Safety Manager reports directly to the Safety Director and maintains proactive, frequent, and open communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works closely with Safety Director and Managers to cultivate QE Solar Safety culture.
  • Provides health and safety leadership and direction to all QE staff.
  • Serves as a contact on Health and Safety issues.
  • Provides recommendations and assistance to QE Solar Field Operations Managers regarding job site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation and safe material or substance utilization.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate worker’s compensation program, working with internal personnel and third‑party administrators/legal counsel to investigate and resolve claims effectively and cost‑efficiently.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with QE Solar clients, site Health and Safety Managers, managers, local representatives, and subcontractors.
  • Creates, manages, and reviews site‑specific health and safety plans (HASP).
  • Appraises and implements new safety policies and procedures as they relate to QE Solar operations.
  • Ensures that all QE staff are adequately trained in emergency response plan procedures.
  • Works as the internal incident manager, ensuring that safety emergencies and injuries are properly managed.
  • Provides HASP safety orientation for all new QE Solar staff and client personnel as applicable.
  • Assists in the preparation of new work proposals as solicitations relate to corporate health and safety objectives.
  • Reviews subcontractor safety programs to ensure compliance with QE Solar, OSHA, and NFPA requirements.
  • Participates in monthly safety meetings with field personnel.
  • Conducts safety audits, producing brief summary reports noting any deviations from the HASP and corrective actions necessary to promote worker and public health and safety.
  • Develops and presents programs to train managers and employees in worksite safety practices, safe equipment operating techniques, and fire prevention for job sites and office.
  • Facilitates employee training in First Aid and CPR.
  • Maintains training records in employee files.
  • Ensures new employees receive safety instructions before beginning work, emphasizing specific site hazards and precautions.
  • Provides training and education to all levels of staff as required by federal and state safety regulations.
  • Coordinates risk management planning and safety policies compliant with all federal, state, county, and local rules and regulations for both field and office operations.
  • Acts as a contact for any federal, state, or municipal safety or risk management authority and/or personnel, including OSHA.
  • Manages and oversees the motor vehicle fleet safety program and conducts driver background investigations to qualify authorized drivers.
  • Maintains third‑party qualification sites: ISNetworld and Avetta.
  • Represents QE Solar in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Maintains a work atmosphere by communicating positively with clients, subcontractors, co‑workers, and management.
  • Communicates frequently with company managers to keep them apprised of pertinent issues.
