Position: EVS NIGHT CLEANER

Overview

Job Title: EVS Night Cleaner

Shift: GRAVEYARD | 11pm - 7am | Fulltime

Location: VARIED

Department: Environmental Services

Reports To: EVS Shift Supervisor

Summary

Cleans public and office areas of casino and hotel following a preset schedule. The facility is divided into cleaning areas or sections and job assignments are made based on those areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Cleans assigned section:
    Dusts and cleans glass, ceramic, vinyl, wood and metal surfaces and fixtures and slot machines as outlined in section assignments.
  • Empties trash receptacles and cleans inside of receptacles as needed.
  • Follows cycle cleaning procedures. Polices assigned area.
  • “Polices” the floor or other area assigned and pick up all trash.
  • Vacuum assigned sections.
  • Cleans entryways, and surrounding areas.
  • Responsible for equipment, so as to protect it from damage and store it to prevent its loss.
  • Watches for guest’s safety so that equipment is not left in an unsafe matter.
  • Washes windows using correct procedures.
  • Disposes of trash according to the environmental method of disposal or holding in specific containers for pick-up.
  • Posts safety signs required for the safety of guests and employees.
  • Reports all defective equipment to supervisor.
  • Is responsible for the safe storage of all cleaning utensils, containers and equipment in order to prevent damage or loss.
  • Details all stainless steel, brass, wood, glass, ceramic, vinyl and metal surfaces including slot machines as outlined in section assignments.
  • Cleans floor mats and washes walls as assigned.
  • Cleans restrooms and keeps paper products supplied.
  • Cleans vents, light fixtures and other ceiling mounted fixtures.
  • Sweeps assigned area, carefully cleaning around planter boxes and other fixtures, removing trash, cigarette butts, paper, etc.
  • Removes, replaces and stores all linen used by different departments.
  • Dusts and wipes down all signs, walls, stools, chairs, decorative objects, counter tops, televisions and office areas.
  • Performs all carpet cleaning in heavy traffic areas of casino.
  • Performs heavy duty cleaning of restrooms on a weekly schedule.
  • Performs heavy duty detailing on all glass, ceramics, vinyl, wood, brass and metal surfaces on slot machines.
Education And/or Experience

Education And/or Experience
:
Prior cleaning or hotel housekeeping experience preferred. General knowledge of cleaning chemicals is preferred.

Must be able to get along with co-workers and develop teamwork. Must be able to work at a fast pace.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English strongly preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. An employee performing heavy duty assignments may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to secondary smoke and toxic or caustic chemicals and may be required to work with hand and power equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
