Maintenance Worker I - Various Locations

The Maintenance Worker I position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the city’s iconic public spaces—including parks, community centers, the Civic Center Complex, and Downtown areas.
Responsibilities- Perform trash pickup and operate litter control devices.
- Trim and prune shrubs and trees.
- Clean ramadas, sidewalks, patios, restrooms, and drinking fountains.
- Trim and weed areas using powered mowers, weed‑eaters, and manual tools.
- Inspect grounds for hazards and report findings to the supervisor.
- Operate city‑owned vehicles including trucks, small tractors, and EZ‑GO carts.
- Rake and weed planters, granite areas, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
- Perform minor sprinkler repairs and maintenance.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to the mid‑point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and the mid‑point for this position is $21.84 per hour.

- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties as described and excellent customer service skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver’s license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires out‑of‑state driver’s licenses to be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Note:
Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted. - Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale must reside in the State of Arizona during their active employment, regardless of whether the employee is approved to work remotely.

Additional InformationYears of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full‑time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part‑time positions. Depending on the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
