Nautilus Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter, Team Lead to join our team! This role will be located in our Scottsdale AZ office, or remotely in the Western US (except California) for a highly qualified candidate.

In this role, you will provide support to the underwriting process, making appropriate decisions within your underwriting assigned authority levels. We will look to you to provide professional internal and external customer interactions, and coach others in the development and deepening of agency relationships - especially in the mentoring of newer underwriters taking on new agency relationships. You are expected to share the underwriting philosophy with your team to create a consistent approach.

Your priority is to influence, grow, and impart knowledge to the team.

• Identify and develop plans to expand agency relationships with assigned offices.
• Coach and prepare underwriters to develop new relationships with agency partners, additional sources of profitable production, and ensure smooth underwriter re-assignments.
• Lead and assist team with identification and analysis of agency staff to develop plans and approaches for building deeper agency relationships.
• Assess new and renewal accounts to determine acceptability based on NIC underwriting guidelines and authority granted.
• Review new and renewal accounts to verify issuance is in compliance with NIC underwriting guidelines, address discrepancies as needed, and enter information into appropriate systems.
• Establish types and limits of coverage to be provided.
• Create, analyze, and interpret data from various systems and underwriting resources.
• Monitor production, profitability, and maintain agency relationships.
• Collaborate with underwriting team as well as other departments on underwriting philosophy.
• Effectively communicate (written/verbal) information to both internal and external customers to ensure our standards of excellence are maintained.
