As a Surgery Scheduler you will:
  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
  • Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Verify necessary information and record information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assistants, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
  • Maintain and update physician’s calendars.
  • Answer telephone, screen calls, clear voicemail, and return patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Answer questions regarding patient’s upcoming surgeries.
  • Update patient information.
  • Prepare surgical packet materials.
  • Assist in training and orienting of new staff.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
  • Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
