Job SummaryThe Chaplain Services Coordinator position administers, supervises, and coordinates the overall programs and services of chaplain services for staff, volunteers, and chaplains in training within the area. Responsibilities include providing spiritual care to patients, families and staff experiencing various forms of spiritual/existential stress in a clinical environment. Provide spiritual assessments and documentation of emotional and spiritual interventions of care in a hospital setting.
Respond to all requests and consults for patient, family and staff spiritual/existential support, providing appropriate care interventions or making referrals to staff or community clergy as needed using highest professional standards and confidentiality. Document spiritual/existential interventions and also produce Spiritual Care reports as needed. Participate in committees as needed, embracing a commitment to continuing education in fields of spiritual care, medical ethics, holistic health and related areas.
Facilitate spiritual services for patients, families and staff as needed, by coordinating services, providing written materials and utilizing various modes of media to promote spiritual care in support of Honor Health policies and procedures. Act as liaison for local clergy and maintain clergy and religious community contacts. Provide general supervision of spiritual services staff, volunteers and chaplains in training, addressing all patient or staff complaints involving spiritual care concerns, seeking resolution in conjunction with supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in religion, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, or Spirituality Required
Masters degree in religion, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, or Spirituality Preferred
Experience1 year experience through completion CPE unit or work related to Hospice, Palliative Care, Assisted Living, Law Enforcement Chaplaincy;
Faith Community Leadership or Ministry Experience;
Stephens Ministry Training;
Bereavement and Grief Training.
Required
1 year experience as a healthcare chaplain; experience in palliative care/hospice or another related field. Preferred
Licenses and CertificationsOther Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) approved by Association of Professional Chaplaincy (APC). Upon Hire Required
Completion of at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) totaling 1600 hours of supervised clinical experience approved by Association of Professional Chaplaincy (APC). Eligibility to move toward Board certification. Preferred
