Family Office Growth Partners is supporting a partner firm in the recruitment and initial screening process for this role.
We have been engaged on a confidential search on behalf of our client, a newly formed Multi‑Family Office and Registered Investment Advisory firm located in Scottsdale, Arizona
. Serving a select group of High‑Net‑Worth Individuals and Family Office clients, the firm is actively building the operational infrastructure to support its growth and expanding client base.
The firm is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead and oversee all aspects of its internal operations. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Partner, with broad responsibility across client operations, finance, compliance, and technology.
Position OverviewThe Chief Operating Officer will serve as the firm's senior operational leader, responsible for establishing and managing the processes, systems, and controls that support the firm's advisory teams and client service model. The primary focus in the first year will be to assess current operations and implement sustainable, scalable processes across all functional areas.
Key Responsibilities Client Operations & Service Delivery- Oversee all aspects of client‑facing operations to ensure consistent, high‑quality service delivery for HNW and Family Office clients
- Evaluate and refine existing workflows, onboarding procedures, and service standards
- Collaborate with advisory teams to align operational processes with client expectations and firm growth objectives
- Direct firmwide financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Monitor and manage operational expenses with an emphasis on efficiency and responsible resource allocation
- Provide the Managing Partner with regular financial reporting and actionable analysis
- Partner with the compliance function to ensure adherence to all applicable SEC and state RIA regulations
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework covering operational, regulatory, and reputational exposures
- Establish internal controls and audit‑ready documentation across all business operations
- Manage the firm's technology infrastructure including CRM, portfolio management, financial planning, and client reporting platforms
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and support the advisor and client experience
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across all platforms and reporting functions
- 20 or more years of operational leadership experience within an RIA, wealth management firm, or related financial services environment
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple operational functions simultaneously, including compliance, finance, technology, and client service
- Proven ability to assess, restructure, and improve operational processes within a professional services or financial services firm
- Prior experience serving High‑Net‑Worth or Family Office client segments preferred
- Strong working knowledge of RIA regulatory requirements, fiduciary standards, and SEC compliance frameworks
- Solid financial acumen with direct experience in budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial management
- Proficiency with wealth management technology platforms such as Salesforce, Orion, Tamarac, Black Diamond, or comparable systems
- Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage cross‑functional teams and influence at all organizational levels
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, independently owned firm environment where adaptability and self‑direction are essential
- High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and sound judgment
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Relevant professional certifications are a plus (e.g., CFP, CIMA, PMP, or applicable FINRA licenses)
