ABOUT THE JOBWe are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in Phoenix, AZ. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the coordination, calculation, preparation, financial analysis and reporting of the Company’s critical accounting estimates for accounting management and finance leadership. This individual will work jointly with various operational, finance and accounting teams to coordinate the monthly process, preparing monthly journal entries, perform necessary analysis and prepare presentations for management.
WHATYOU'LL BE DOING
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions, and completing corresponding reconciliations. Review, independently investigate, and resolve identified matters.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial information utilized to determine and support key management estimates (AR Allowance, Credit Memo Reserve, Fleet, health insurance, corporate insurance, natural disasters, etc.).
- Prepare and complete month‑end close processing ensuring that all deadlines are met in accordance with the established closing dates.
- Lead support and documentation for annual AR allowance rate study, periodic rate reviews for credit memos, periodic analysis for fleet disposal and other miscellaneous analysis of accounting estimates, as required.
- Serve as an information resource to back office and business operations stakeholders related to any issues or initiatives, including analyzing financial data to identify trends and patterns.
- Collect, interpret and summarize financial data in order to respond to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Communicate and coordinate with both internal and external auditors and satisfy their requests for information in a timely manner.
- Perform key SOX and management controls over critical estimates.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with both internal and external customers.
- Assist or lead special projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned. This is a role with significant visibility to financial leadership and includes critical projects, analysis, and ad‑hoc requests that are time‑sensitive. The candidate must anticipate the next question, the next challenge, and the next project, including the impact on operations, audit, controls, and financial statements. The person must be a driven, financial professional with growth aspirations.
- The data used by this role is of a size and scale that requires the use of a data warehouse and supplemental reporting tools. The role will be using/matching data and data attributes from multiple financial systems. Use of various tools will be necessary on a daily basis.
- MS Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
- SAP
- Oracle FCCS, EPM, ARCS
- Snowflake data warehouse
- Sigma, Tableau reporting/analysis tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA or relevant experience required.
- 2‑5 years of relevant experience, including experience in public accounting (public accounting required).
- Proven experience in account reconciliations, general ledger, accounts receivable.
- Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports for management.
