Advanced Space Systems Engineer

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at the time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable timeframe from the date of hire. Applicants will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

GDMS Advanced Systems Engineers analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety, and other requirements in the total engineering effort.

Responsibilities include requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration, and testing (verification), validation, and interface definition studies of system elements. Tasks may include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis; developing signal processing architecture and overall system architecture.

Our systems typically include digital signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software for space-based systems. Highly qualified candidates will have experience with digital signal processing algorithm development for the statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements, utilizing techniques from Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory. Knowledge of MATLAB for DSP, Radar Processing, RF effects mitigation/processing, Monte Carlo analysis, or Phased Array/Beam Forming is a plus.

Preferred skills and experiences include:

• Experience in Python
• Experience with Small Sats and Cube Sats development
• Hardware Prototype Development, “Flat Sat”, “Hardware Integration”, “Hardware in-the-loop” Systems Integration and Testing
• Electrical or Systems Engineering, especially in communications or digital signal processing
• Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development, Dev Ops, CI/CD
• Experience with Digital Engineering/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)/SysML/Magic Draw/Cameo
• Experience in Space Payloads Design, Development, or I&T
