Under the supervision of the principal and the athletic director, the assistant coach helps coordinate and administrate the sport, ensuring compliance with the National Federation of High Schools, the Arizona Interscholastic Association, the Diocese of Phoenix, school policies, athletic department procedures, and the specific conference. The coach contributes to fostering the Catholic School culture, serving as a witness to students and the community, and cooperating with Christ in the academic, spiritual, and social education of our high school students.
The role also requires obtaining necessary certificates, participating in professional development, maintaining detailed records, and serving as a mentor and campus minister.
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and training; promote the Pursuing Victory with Honor program; maintain discipline and morale.
- Assist in overall functioning of the sport’s program.
- Ensure venue safety and equipment regulation compliance.
- Coordinate supervision of student-athletes across all venues.
- Maintain open communication with faculty, staff, and parents; advise on academics; assist in college recruitment and scholarship processes.
- Perform other job‑related tasks as requested by the principal or athletic director.
- Demonstrate personal self‑discipline, adaptability, and flexibility.
- Use good judgment and correct verbal and written language.
- Have a sense of humor and appropriate teaching techniques.
- Maintain grooming and dress as per handbook.
- Work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Be in good physical condition with initiative, creativity, and problem‑solving skills.
- Listen actively and assess individual student, teacher, and program needs.

Employee must stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear; regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds; require close and distance vision; able to stand in heat and cold; may require evening and weekend hours.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated based on procedures developed by the Diocese of Phoenix and Notre Dame Preparatory under the direction of the Principal and Athletic Director.
Terms of EmploymentStipend position based on the season of the sport. Schedule of mandatory days and extra responsibilities provided prior to each school year.
Minimum Qualification- Preference given to Catholic teacher.
- Certified by Arizona State Department of Education or AIA as a coach; meets NCA requirements.
- Meets Diocese of Phoenix employment requirements.
- Completed Safe Environment Training and signed Code of Conduct.
- FBI fingerprint clearance completed.
- Current Arizona State driver’s license desirable.
