Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Senior Interior Designer is a full-time, senior-level role responsible for managing all phases of interior design development—from project inception through installation across single-family, multi-family and commercial projects. This position requires the ability to successfully manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously while maintaining design excellence, schedule adherence, and budget control.

The role involves significant interaction with clients, contractors, consultants, and vendors, and works collaboratively with the Chief Design Officer, Director of Client Relations, and internal design team. Qualified candidates must demonstrate advanced project management capabilities, a refined design sensibility, strong communication skills, and a client-focused, detail-oriented approach through all phases of project execution.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Oversee all phases of interior design projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment by making timely decisions and developing effective solutions related to design, scope, and execution.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, maintaining consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
  • Review, redline, and approve drawings, specifications, and documentation to ensure technical accuracy and design intent.
Client, Consultant & Team Collaboration
  • Participate in client presentations independently or in support of the Project Lead, presenting design concepts clearly, professionally, and with comprehensive project knowledge.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, architects, general contractors, and trade partners to support cohesive project execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Studio Dwell team members to ensure alignment with client standards, timelines, and design goals.
Budgeting, Contracts & Value Engineering
  • Prepare preliminary budgets for contract development, including estimating design hours required for the defined scope of services. Actively monitor project budgets throughout all phases of design and execution to ensure alignment with approved financial parameters. Track design hours, reimbursable expenses, and scope changes; proactively identify potential budget risks; and communicate impacts to leadership and clients as appropriate. Support cost‑control measures and participate in value engineering efforts as needed to maintain budget compliance without compromising design intent.
  • Review contracts to confirm accuracy of scope, language, and deliverables.
  • Participate in value engineering efforts when required, ensuring cost efficiencies without compromising overall design intent.
Mentorship, Leadership & Professional Conduct
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive approach in all internal and external interactions.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, reinforcing Studio Dwell design principles, client standards, and best practices for successful project delivery.
  • Actively develop leadership skills with the goal of participating in internal leadership initiatives or relevant industry organizations.

  • Continuously research and expand the studio’s vendors and product library based on style, scale, and pricing; share resources with the design team.
  • Attend scheduled vendor meetings, industry markets, and educational seminars to remain current on design trends and products.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by participating in or forming committees to evaluate and enhance studio procedures and workflows.

  • Attend evening or weekend project‑related events, including grand openings and marketing functions, when required.
