We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support our client’s growing project portfolio. In this role, you’ll be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to produce accurate time, cost, and labor estimates. This position requires deep knowledge of construction methodologies, cost control strategies, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Evaluate cost-effectiveness of projects and monitor actual costs vs. estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead studies to establish standard production rates and identify cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to adjust estimates as necessary.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and field staff to resolve scope and cost-related issues.
- Prepare itemized breakdowns of materials, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Generate estimates for internal planning, bid proposals, vendor selection, and resource scheduling.
- May specialize in construction costs, materials, or production processes depending on the project scope.
- Attend pre-bid job walks and conduct site visits during construction.
- Support long-term planning initiatives and strategic growth goals.
- Participate in business development activities with clients, developers, and GCs.
- Enforce company safety protocols and ensure team compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and ability to visualize 2D plans in 3D space.
- Willingness to take ownership and put in extended hours when needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with construction equipment, government regulations, and estimating software.
- Proficient in math, geometry, and cost analysis.
- Skilled in preparing professional, accurate proposals and bid documents.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Demonstrates confidentiality, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of estimating experience in construction (civil or heavy civil preferred).
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
