Essential Functions

Strategic Business and Corporate Development

  • Opportunity Sourcing and Evaluation
  • Identify, source, and screen growth opportunities aligned with Delta Dental of Arizona’s strategic priorities.
  • Conduct initial assessments of potential acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and market entry opportunities.
  • Financial Modeling and Strategic Analysis
  • Develop financial models and perform valuation and scenario analyses to support opportunity evaluation, deal structuring and investment decisions.
  • Assess strategic fit, financial impact, and risk considerations for proposed opportunities.
  • Business Case Development and Presentations
  • Prepare investment materials, business cases, and presentations for senior leadership and Board-level review.
  • Support deal structuring analysis, including economics, risks, and strategic implications.
  • Market and Industry Analysis
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, regulatory developments, and market dynamics.
  • Synthesize insights and share relevant intelligence with internal stakeholders to inform strategy and opportunity prioritization.

Deal Execution and Pipeline Management

  • Deal Flow and Execution Support
  • Manage assigned opportunities through the business and corporate development lifecycle, from evaluation through diligence coordination and recommendation.
  • Support transaction execution activities, including diligence planning, analysis, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Pipeline Management and Reporting
  • Manage and update the business and corporate development pipeline, ensuring clear prioritization, visibility, and tracking of opportunities.
  • Prepare regular pipeline reports and updates for senior leadership, including key risks, milestones, and strategic considerations.
  • Negotiation and Documentation Support
  • Support contract negotiations by preparing analyses, summaries, and diligence findings related to proposed transactions.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance teams on transaction-related documentation and approvals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Influence

  • Work closely with Commercial Growth, Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Legal, IT and other functional teams to ensure alignment between development opportunities and organizational objectives
  • Influence Without Authority
  • Effectively influence and coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders without direct reporting authority to advance opportunities and meet deadlines.
Competencies & Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5-7+ years in business development, corporate development, strategy, M&A or related roles.
  • Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic analysis, financial modeling and deal valuation, and project management.
