Overview
The Portfolio Account Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing a portfolio of 300–900 business and corporate clients. This role ensures exceptional client satisfaction while driving resolution and collection of past-due balances, primarily focusing on accounts carrying outstanding amounts of $10,000 or more. This individual will work closely with multiple departments, internal partners, and leadership teams to meet portfolio goals and uphold service standards.
They may manage high-profile or classified accounts, requiring strong professionalism, sound judgment, and effective problem‑solving in all client interactions.
- Manage a large portfolio of corporate clients while maintaining strong organization and service.
- Collect on past‑due accounts of $10,000+ and serve as the primary client contact.
- Respond to inquiries quickly and professionally and escalate issues as needed.
- Support frontline reps by serving as an escalation point.
- Handle multiple client requests, including purchase orders and ad hoc needs.
- Apply information learned from various scenarios across accounts.
- Schedule and conduct follow‑ups with portfolio clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to meet collection goals.
- Pivot quickly to address new or unexpected client issues.
- Reconcile complex, high‑volume accounts.
- Accounting experience (any level) — must be comfortable using Excel and discussing payments, outstanding balances, reconciliations, and other financial matters with clients.
- 2+ years of collections experience, preferably in a B2B environment (collections, clerical support, administrative work involving financial data, purchase order management, bookkeeping, or accounting).
- Experience reviewing and analyzing B2B transaction data to identify discrepancies, trends, payment delays, or root causes of delinquency.
- Moderate Excel proficiency, including the ability to perform VLOOKUPs and confidently work within complex spreadsheets.
- Business to Business (B2B) collections experience.
- Experience using SAP and Salesforce for billing, invoicing, or financial processes.
