WhatYou Will Do
- Working solo or with a team, you will maintain and repair vehicles for the Cox Communications Fleet to make them look and run like new.
- Deliver exceptional service to customers by applying a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies. Perform light and major repairs. Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics. Interact with customers with high integrity and trust.
- Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and driveline components, etc.
- May maintain/repair equipment (cable trailers, laptop docking stations, etc.).
- Keep shop area clean and tidy. Work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids safely and per regulations.
- Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records. May up-fit new vehicles with the necessary equipment.
- Performs more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, and fabrication.
- Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs to ensure prompt repairs. May perform roadside assistance as needed.
- Provide custom equipment when needed by engaging in equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks including welding.
- Assure availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators and electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace general automotive parts and accessories; lead a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, HVAC, and engines.
- Possess medium/heavy truck experience, booms/hydraulics, electrical, and complex repairs, design, and fabrication.
- Skilled in diesel and transmission repairs; advanced troubleshooting to resolve complex repairs.
- Master-level Technicians must be skilled to work on multiple applications from Light-Duty to Class A-Heavy Trucks, Mechanical Equipment, Machinery, and more.
- Shop responsibilities may include scheduling repairs, maintaining parts and supply inventories, and assisting Area Manager with vendor relationships for compliance with processes and policies.
- Maintain shop tools and identify tool needs; communicate with leadership on requirements.
- Supervise shop productivity, provide work direction, and prioritize tasks for a small staff of Technicians. May assist Area Manager with training compliance, PTO, timecards, etc.
- Ensure all SOPs are implemented to maintain Company standards.
- Be a self-starter, open-minded, adapt to change, and lead a team constructively.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the normal business of a mechanical repair facility.
- Contribute to shop morale by providing technical guidance and coaching; act as primary assistant to manager in directing work.
- Perform quality control checks; report exceptional or unsatisfactory work or safety concerns.
- Orient, train, and instruct new and current employees on job functions as needed.
- Assist with inventory management and ensure shop equipment, supplies, and tools are maintained.
- Report theft, damage, or safety concerns to management; model safety behaviors and support Safety Excellence initiatives.
- Work with management to review work volumes, staffing, and KPI performance to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead by example, uphold Cox/Manheim values, and ensure respectful treatment of all employees.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
