Overview
Hybrid Non Profit Accountant Opportunity in Scottsdale!
Responsibilities- Manage and maintain the organization’s general ledger using accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero, or Sage, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, interpreting financial data for leadership decision-making.
- Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliations to ensure consistency across all financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining compliance with internal controls.
- Conduct budget analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting to support strategic planning efforts.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, and other regulatory requirements relevant to nonprofit organizations.
- Assist with audit preparations, including supporting documentation collection and liaising with external auditors.
- Maintain accurate records of grants, donations, and other funding sources, ensuring proper allocation according to donor restrictions and organizational policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven experience in nonprofit accounting or public accounting environments with familiarity in regulatory reporting standards.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance requirements, and securities law as they pertain to nonprofit entities.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero, Sage, People Soft or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), governmental accounting practices, and technical accounting concepts like accrual accounting is highly desirable.
