Overview

Blue Star Resort & Golf – Central Services Main Office. Blue Star is a boutique management firm focused on supporting developers, asset managers, and community Boards in the operation of resort and golf amenities. Our expertise covers hospitality management, including golf, spa, food & beverage, community clubs, and more, particularly in active adult or age-qualified residential communities. We also provide full-scale landscape services in some locations.

Our portfolio spans coast to coast with many locations in between.

Benefits

New management full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full-time employment. Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at a rate of 120 hours per year. Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Finance with responsibility for maintaining accounting records and other key responsibilities noted below.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate the core values and mission of Blue Star Resort & Golf (BSGR) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Maintain effective communication with all team members to maintain a smooth, informed, and consistent atmosphere related to office functions.
  • Daily interaction with clients, with a high degree of customer service.
  • Maintain accurate financial data.
  • Track and control daily banking activity.
  • Accounts payable processing.
  • Daily revenue and reporting.
  • Monitor and reconcile credit card activity.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and related support.
  • Balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Prepare and process sales tax returns.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • One to three years’ related accounting experience preferred.
  • Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Previous experience or interest in learning the hospitality industry.
  • JD Edwards accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of GAAP guidelines (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and clients.
  • Ability to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • Flexibility to include evenings and weekends.
Work Environment

This position operates in a professional indoor office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. The noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to speak and hear, sit or stand for extended periods, walk or be able to move around the office space, use hands to finger, handle or feel, bend, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
