Overview

Facilitate and deliver CDL-training program in compliance with the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle Standards for entry level Commercial Driver License Class A training. The curriculum will be provided by WNCC for the Trainer to follow. The Trainer will ensure student and public safety at all times.

Essential Functions
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs, making continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods. Courses would include, but not be limited to Class-A and Class B CDL Entry Level Driver Training.
  • Develop curriculum within college and departmental guidelines.
  • Responsible for managing college CMV vehicles and trailers.
  • Responsible for ensuring CMV program is in compliance with federal and state regulations for CMV training
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive student inquiries and complaints.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Nebraska State Class A CDL license: license must be held for a minimum of 2 consecutive years in the state of Nebraska.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Class A licensed commercial motor vehicle driver
  • Must meet State of Nebraska and WNCC driving record standards. A DMV records check will be completed as part of the application process.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

All candidates who meet the above required qualifications will be considered.

Preferred (the following are a plus, but not required)
  • Ability to work evenings and Saturdays.
  • Previous experience training Class A CDL drivers.
  • Previous classroom training experience.
Knowledge
  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Transportation — Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding commercial motor vehicle training and the CMV industry.
  • Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
