General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures that customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all store areas as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Functions
  • Practice safety as the number one priority and maintain safety awareness on the sales floor.
  • Keep the sales floor clutter‑free, provide clear egress to emergency exits, and report or correct unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; remain friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists customers – register‑trained, answer questions, and maintain a friendly greeting throughout the store.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, involving store leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks, include sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Adhere to the company dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Keep the store neat, clean, and organized; perform daily size and recovery per best practice.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per best practice and monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential, cash, and merchandise information.
  • Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies and communicate disposals to store leadership.
  • Handle cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately, including voids and offline procedures.
  • Execute store best practices efficiently, maximizing productivity.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements /Ada
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Associates on stockroom shifts: regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
