Mortgage Escrow Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage all escrow functions related to hazard insurance, flood insurance, and property taxes for in‑house escrowed/non escrowed loans across all charters. This role ensures timely disbursement of escrow funds, accurate escrow analysis, proper force‑placement of insurance when needed, and exceptional customer support. The coordinator maintains complete and accurate escrow records and provides required documentation for audits while supporting both internal departments and borrowers through clear communication and efficient problem‑solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- a. Obtain insurance invoices, make required updates to escrow accounts, and disburse funds for hazard and flood insurance across all charters within designated deadlines.
- b. Pay property taxes for all escrowed loans across all charters within designated deadlines, with support from the Servicing Manager.
- c. Responsible for the payment of mortgage insurance premiums for in‑house loans in all charters.
- d. Complete monthly/annual escrow analysis for all charters. Process escrow refunds when necessary and mail appropriate documentation to borrower.
- e. Place and cancel force‑placed insurance across all departments and banks in accordance with established guidelines.
- f. Disburse and/or advance premiums for force‑placed insurance and ensure proper handling of related ledger entries.
- g. Responsible for charging premiums by disbursing funds from escrow, advancing premiums to notes and processing appropriate general ledger accounts for different departments, correctly processing all credits resulting from cancellations or paid out loans. Assist supervisor with balancing.
- h. Process paid out loans which include removing loans from tax service, canceling flood certificates and/or force‑placed insurance when necessary.
- i. Maintain all escrow disbursement records and be able to provide any/all documentation upon auditor request.
- j. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1. High School Diploma
- 2. Two years Mortgage experience preferred
- 3. Detail orientated and strong mathematical skills.
- 4. General areas of competency: decision making, dependability, development, environmental safety, evaluation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritizing, problem solving, teams skills and time management.
Physical Requirements: Light Work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, climbing, kneeling, talking, hearing, pulling, pushing, thinking, concentrating and interacting with others. You should be capable of performing in a reasonable manner, with or without reasonable accommodation, the activities involved in this job.
