Position: Adult Education Instructor ]

To provide classroom instruction to ASE (Adult Secondary Education) and ABE (Adult Basic Education) GED® (General Education Development) students through in class teachings, handouts, homework responding to questions, and testing; and to perform related duties as required. All instructors will follow state and federal guidelines (taught upon hiring). This position, based in Scottsbluff NE will be 26 hours per week (can go up to 28 hours).

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must be comfortable teaching both math and reading.
  • Work directly with the ASE and ABE students and are responsible for accurate assessment, instruction and outcomes for student performance.
  • Take an active role in student data collection to include student attendance hours.
  • Administer and evaluate student assessments.
  • Act as an advisor and counselor to GED® students; aid in their progression through the learning programs; disseminate information regarding all adult basic education courses.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain various records and data bases according to program needs or program requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required instructional area.
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate a variety of instructional material; select books to be used for assigned instructional classes.
  • Assist students in the operation and set-up of computers and audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience preferred or a combination of education, experience, and certifications that demonstrates the candidate is capable of teaching the academic content (per Nebraska Department of Education, 11/18/2022)

Experience

Some experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher is preferred.

License or Certificate

Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance.
