Position Overview
Inly School seeks a warm, collaborative, and reflective Children’s House Assistant Teacher to support a Montessori classroom serving children ages 3–6. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating a respectful, nurturing, and well-prepared environment that supports children’s academic, social, and emotional growth.
Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus school on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Our Montessori+ approach fosters joyful curiosity, courage, compassion, and a deep respect for each child as a learner. Key Responsibilities- Support the implementation of the Montessori and Inly-adopted curriculum under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
- Help maintain a prepared environment that is orderly, inviting, and supportive of independence, concentration, and exploration.
- Observe children and share insights with the teaching team to support individualized learning.
- Foster emotional safety, respectful communication, and positive social interactions.
- Assist with daily classroom routines, transitions, recess, and supervision.
- Support individual students and small groups as needed.
- Supervise students during outdoor play, arrivals, dismissals, hallway transitions, and field studies.
- Participate in professional development, level meetings, and Shared Learning Communities, as appropriate.
- Assist with school-wide duties such as playground, lunch, arrivals, and dismissals coverage.
- Follow expectations outlined in the Classroom and Employee Handbooks.
- A passion for working with young children and supporting their development
- Experience working with children ages 3–6 preferred
- Montessori experience or training preferred (or a willingness to learn)
- A collaborative, flexible, and reflective mindset
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practices
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Ability to balance stationary classroom work with active engagement throughout the school day
- Comfort moving throughout a multi-building campus and outdoor spaces
- Physical ability to lift materials and occasionally lift children up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to work outdoors daily in varying weather conditions
- Participation in school events such as Back-to-School Night, Curriculum Nights, Open Houses, and Graduation
