The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who assesses, coordinates, implements and evaluates patient care specific to the age of the patient population served from newborn to the elderly. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards of care. He/she demonstrated performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization;
remains flexible to changing system; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Acts as a patient advocate at all times.
Job Responsibilities
- Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, psychological and spiritual needs.
- Reassesses patients systemically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
- Assess and reassesses their patient’s level of pain, providing effective treatment and the necessary education for follow-up care.
- Maintains knowledge regarding telemetry and basic life support protocols.
- Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within the time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome; modifies the plan of care based on evaluations.
- Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Utilizes infection control measures appropriately.
- Coordinated the medical plan of care.
- Reviews department head minutes, unit specific minutes and nurse manager minutes and participates in meetings.
- Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.
- Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based on patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
- Utilizes the appropriate chain of command for the resolution of difficult issues.
- Assumes accountability for continual education enhancement.
- Participates in orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
- Maintains competency for operation of all unit equipment.
- Participates in annual hospital wide education and review day.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Responsible for checking outdates on all medications, sterile supplies and nutritional items.
- Will embody FOCUS values through interactions with patients/residents and coworkers.
- Current licensure of Illinois as a Registered Nurse.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to telemetry.
- Current Basic Life Support Card.
- 3+ years of experience as RN in hospital setting.
- Good Verbal and written communication skills.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.

Wage: $36.75 – $44.75/hour (actual wage based on relevant experience)
