ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Following standard methods and techniques, repetitively inspects and tests the product to ensure it meets customer and product specifications and alerts the Quality Manager when standards are not met.
  • Puts questionable product on hold, organizes re-work if necessary, and inspects returned product.
  • Maintenance of the QC Lab records, prepares routine reports, including gathering and summarizing data.
  • The authority to withhold items that do not meet all requirements.
  • Informs Quality Manager of all rejects found within the lab.
  • Performs weekly calibration on all lab.
  • Maintains all equipment and advises the QC Manager of repairs when necessary.
  • May assist in training of the other lab inspection employees.
  • Utilizes the company computer system and PC software to maintain and generate effective reporting systems that relate to the job function. Using these systems prepare routine and non-routine reports, including gathering and summarizing data.
  • Promotes safety by:
  • Actively assesses activities on a constant basis to ensure no unsafe actions or results will occur.
  • Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (eye and hearing protection, solvent impermeable shoes, lab coats, gloves and steel-toe shoes) when dealing with solvents, heat or working on the production site.
  • Following safety protocols when dealing with solvents, making sure all solvent use is under the hood.
  • Ensures quality products and processes are maintained by:
  • Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
  • Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work meets or exceeds internal specifications.
  • Identifying and correcting, if possible, any identified quality issues in the department.
  • Participating in system or quality-based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. *

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to operate computer for data input and retrieval.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratios, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to grip, feel, peel or control; reach with hands and arms; use scissors to cut rubber. The employee must frequently lift, carry, and push/pull 10 to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and chemicals. Eye and hand protection, along with lab coats are required when working with solvents.
