Overview
Join our growing Senior Living Community! We are hiring for a Lead Housekeeper who will be responsible for coordinating activities of all Healthcare Center Housekeeping associates on their shift and area of responsibility and for providing leadership and support to all associates and responsibilities as appropriate. The Lead Associate ensures that all HCC Housekeeping functions are performed in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
Assist the Manager of Housekeeping by providing input on associate performance appraisals. Responds to, and anticipates customer needs. Works and provides leadership in a manner that puts the Encore Village of Schaumburg Mission and Common Practices into action. To maintain the Health Care Center interior and furnishings in a clean, aseptic and orderly fashion, while promoting the recovery of our residents, and ensuring a pleasant environment for our guests, visitors and associates.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and leads personnel and self activities
- Coordinates and provides leadership and support to personnel in the performance of their duties.
- Arranges for proper coverage of schedules and projects by adjusting the daily schedule to cover for any unforeseen absences when needed
- Assigns self to complete regular schedules or project assignments.
- Completes work schedules or projects as needed as directed by department manager.
- Assist or perform minor service for residents rooms (i.e. unclogging toilets)
- Maintains effective communications and work to enhance relationships with associates, and residents/visitors, as well as other internal customers.
- Demonstrates pride in a job well done and leads associates by demonstrating personal enthusiasm and commitment to the department and organization
- Observes and monitors job performance and methods 25%
- Continually suggest quality improvement strategies by soliciting input from other associates and customers.
- Report to manager on projects pending
- Actively recommends work practices and procedures while adhering to established safety and infection control guide lines
- Consults with the Housekeeping Manager on associate performance appraisals
- Advises the Housekeeping Manager on situations where associate counseling may be required
- Responsible for Associates training as well as to help the Manager with the establishment of training programs.
- Inspects and evaluates equipment and procedures
- Oversee the supply distribution and usage, notifying the department Manager of any shortages or reduction strategies
- Coordinates the inspection of equipment and storage rooms to insure that the equipment is clean and safe conditions exist.

- Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, maintaining professional conduct at all times
- Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with associates of the organization.
- Demonstrates a positive, supportive attitude to Residents, visitors and other associates on a consistent basis
- Displays patience and tact when dealing with other EVS associates
- Presents department in a positive manner to visitors, residents and other EVS associates
- Maintains courteous and pleasant attitude to residents, visitors and other EVS associates
- Maintains confidential patient and departmental information
Non-Essential Functions:
- Promotes safe work practices at all times.
- Ensures a safe, clean and attractive environment for residents and visitors.
- Ensures that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers.
- Adheres to safety regulations as outline in departmental policy and procedure manual.
- Ensures that safety guidelines are adhered to when working with chemicals
- Frequently standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, squatting, reaching, feeling, grasping, reaching with hands and arms, tasting, and smelling.
- Occasionally sitting, twisting, climbing stairs, ladders or other climbing or balancing, crouching, crawling, or kneeling.
Constantly being able to move from waist to shoulder height. Frequently being able to move from shoulder and above and waist and below height.
Weight Lifting RequirementsBeing able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Vision RequirementsConstantly monitor and utilizing color vision (identifying and distinguishing colors) and having the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally being able to look at a computer and use peripheral and depth perception.
Environmental Exposure- Frequently being exposed to body fluids/blood and required to wear protective clothing.
- Occasionally being exposed to biohazard materials, chemical hazards, and being required to operate equipment.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience
- 3 years leadership experience preferred.
- 1-2 years in leadership position preferred.
