Encore Village is currently hiring for Full‑Time and Part‑Time Lifestyles Assistants. Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, the Lifestyles Assistant assists with the facilitation of activities and programming in Briarwood and/or Reflections of Briarwood. This is a weekday position with some weekends required.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Leading/Creating /Preparing/Facilitating/Executing activity programs and one‑on‑one visits/pop casual visits as scheduled or needed.
- Provide assistance to residents on escorted trips; provide assistance with special events and all holiday programs.
- Maintain documentation in the EMR system in accordance with facility policy/protocol including but not limited to: assessments, progress notes, care plans, attendance and description of visits.
- Communicates with the supervisor, residents, and other associates about all activity related concerns and needs.
- Cooperates with associates, families, residents and volunteers, fostering an environment that is resident centered and successful.
- Supervises and guides volunteers in their roles by sharing knowledge and instructing them on their responsibilities in the activity process and provides feedback to Life Enrichment Manager as needed.
- Functions as an effective Briarwood team member, collaborates with other departments. Works with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident participation and engagement.
- Contributes to department by completing assigned tasks/duties and offering program suggestions and contributes to the monthly calendar creation.
- Maintains educational compliance with yearly education requirements for team members per IDPH regulation, completing all training as assigned.
- Assist with maintaining and sanitizing departmental equipment and supplies and office/programming areas.
- Provide transport and/or guidance to residents and families to support participation in recreational activities.
- Supports Life Enrichment functions through clerical support, i.e. copying.
- Encourages resident participation in leisure activities through encouragement, provision of supplies, etc.
- Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Physical
Activities:
- Frequently standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, reaching, feeling, pushing, grasping, reaching with hands and arms, tasting, and smelling.
- Occasionally sitting, squatting, twisting, climbing stairs, ladders or other climbing or balancing, crouching, crawling, or kneeling.
Range of Motion:
Frequently being able to move from shoulder and above, waist‑shoulder, and waist and below height.
Weight Lifting Requirements:
Constantly being able to lift up to 10 lbs; however, on occasion being able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Vision Requirements:
Frequently utilizing peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Exposure:
- Occasionally being exposed to biohazard materials and body fluids/blood.
- Required to operate equipment and be exposed to animals (laboratory or other).
- Also, required to wear protective clothing.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Experience in senior activities preferred.
- Experience with music, crafts, activities, religious programming preferred.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Must be able to work with ill, disabled elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must be able to operate a computer, typing and have experience using Word.
- Ability and willingness to work more than usual hours when needed, possibly during a different shift, weekends or holidays.
- Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Meet all local health regulations and pass post‑offer pre‑employment physical exam, if required, which may include drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
- Capable of performing the responsibilities and essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Maintains confidentiality of information.
- Able to remain calm and respond appropriately and in a timely manner to emergency situations.
- Ability to lead large groups.
