To succeed as the Chair of Clinical Sciences, you should have:

  • DO (preferred) or MD/MD-equivalent with AOA/ABMS board certification and maintenance of certification, and eligibility to practice in Illinois actively.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in academic medicine with demonstrated leadership in clinical education or department management.
  • Expertise in curriculum design, assessment, accreditation standards, and integration of innovative teaching modalities such as TBL, PBL, flipped classroom, simulation, and ultrasound.
  • Proficiency in clinical practice with an understanding of OPP/OMM preferred, combined with experience guiding student and faculty development.
  • Proven research and scholarly activity, including the ability to contribute to academic publications and educational innovation.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, strategic planning, and organizational abilities, with willingness and capacity to travel as required.

Your responsibilities as the Chair of Clinical Sciences will include:

  • Lead and mentor faculty across all clinical divisions, supporting recruitment, retention, development, and scholarly activity.
  • Oversee curriculum design and implementation across four years, ensuring integration of clinical, research, and OPP/OMM components.
  • Manage course delivery, assessment, and grading while promoting high student satisfaction and clinical relevance.
  • Conduct departmental strategic, financial, and operational planning, including budget oversight and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain community, alumni, and professional partnerships while representing the department in local, regional, and national organizations.
