QualificationsTo succeed as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, you should have:
- Terminal degree (DO preferred, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with applicable board certification and active Illinois licensure if required.
- Minimum of three years of administrative experience in medical education, teaching, or student/resident advising.
- Prior experience in clinical education leadership or faculty development, including scholarly activity or research.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to learn new software and digital platforms.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities with effective written and verbal communication.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed, with demonstrated capacity to build collaborative relationships across diverse teams and clinical sites.
Your responsibilities as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education will include:
- Oversee Clinical Curriculum & Student Progress:
Ensure students have meaningful clinical experiences, monitor performance, manage curricular documents, and facilitate transitions between years. - Recruit & Develop Clinical Sites and Preceptors:
Identify, maintain, and evaluate affiliated rotation sites; provide training and development for clinical faculty and preceptors. - Student Advising & Counseling:
Support third- and fourth-year students with clerkships, residency preparation, licensing exams, and learners in difficulty. - Leadership & Staff Development:
Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development for clinical education staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team. - Strategic Planning & Institutional Representation:
Contribute to department strategy, engage with external medical education organizations, and represent Clinical Education on internal committees.
