Johnson & Johnson s Clinical Manufacturing & Technology team is recruiting for a Manager Manufacturing Science & Technology (MST), located in Schaffhausen
, Switzerland. This role is critical to establishing Manufacturing Sciences expertise across equipment and system platforms for drug product development, manufacturing, and digitalization for parenteral/injectables and device assembly.
- Provide technical support for biologics drug product manufacturing and combination products/device assembly transferred into the Fill & Finish Pilot Plant (F2P2).
- Serve as the subject matter expert for current and emerging manufacturing technology platforms used in drug product R&D, pilot-scale and commercial production.
- Evaluate new technologies, applications, and process analytical technologies (PAT) by conducting feasibility studies, developing business cases, and delivering proof-of-principle and proof-of-concept studies through installation and implementation.
- Lead equipment and process characterization efforts, support scale‑up/scale‑out activities, and apply process modeling.
- Drive and support process optimization initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee F2P2 laboratory operations, ensuring reliable test performance and compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Manage CAPEX requests
- Provide people leadership for a team of scientists, including coaching, performance management, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- PhD in Pharmaceutical, Biochemical, Chemical, Life Sciences or a related field with 4+ years of experience OR Master s degree with 7+ years of experience OR Bachelor s degree with 9+ years of experience is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience in biopharmaceutical process design.
- Understanding and experience in fill/finish and/or combination product (device assembly) operations.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience.
- Experience in clinical and/or commercial manufacturing.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
- Proven track record of creativity and problem solving skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify gaps and root causes, and to develop practical solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in project management with FPX methodology.
- Proven proficiency and experience in biologics drug product development within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Solid understanding of and experience in technology transfer operations.
- Excellent oral and written language skills in German and English are required.
