We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Medical Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team, within the York Teaching Hospitals Facilities Management LLP.
Job OverviewIn this role, you will assist in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a diverse range of medical devices, ensuring compliance with MHRA guidelines and ISO
9001/2015 standards. You will support the senior technicians and engineers in routine inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and document all activities accurately. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. You must hold a UK driving licence for a manual car and medium-sized vehicles.

Key Responsibilities- Assist in maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical devices.
- Plan, organize, and deliver routine maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on non-complex medical equipment.
- Conduct fault diagnosis and technical intervention.
- Update medical device records and manage databases.
- Implement and propose changes to departmental practices.
- Maintain physical assets and equipment, ensure stock control and security.
- Attain required training standards and adhere to procedures and policies.
- Utilize technical skills such as hand-eye coordination, dexterity, manual labour, including lifting equipment and using hand tools.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to high standards of patient care and safety.
- UK driving licence for a manual car and medium-sized vehicles.
- Applicants lacking the knowledge and skills IAW the essential criteria may be offered a trainee grade defined by the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook.
