Lead Acute Oncology Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to take on a Band 7 senior leadership role in the Acute Oncology team. The post holder will be responsible for leading the nursing team in the delivery of the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) in Scarborough Hospital, and will also lead on Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP).

We would welcome applications from experienced staff who have a strong acute or cancer background and who are excited to learn, problem solve, nurture good relationships and continue the development of an interesting and vital service for our patients.

Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry 24 hour continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the service, providing management and professional leadership for the nursing team.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard.

They will provide specialist advice, supervision and support developing pathways, protocols and guidelines and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

They will need to develop interdepartmental relationships and have excellent communication with a focus on quality improvement.

Managing the administrative and financial aspects of the service, the post holder will also ensure cost effective use of resources.

Experience
