Brief DescriptionLocated along Scarborough’s coast, Piper Shores is a Premier Retirement Community which includes Independent Living, Assisting Living, and Nursing Home Programs. Our Nursing Home unit is comprised of 40 beds with clinical and registered nursing care, and our Assisted Living unit is comprised of 50 individual apartments and 10 memory care apartments. An additional 160 Independent Living apartments and 40 cottages on campus ensure a wide variety of options for a vibrant Senior Living experience.

The Assisted Living Charge Nurse is responsible for delivering and supervising the healthcare services of the Assisted Living unit. In sharing clinical leadership responsibilities with the Resident Care Manager and the Wellness Nurse, the Assisted Living Charge Nurse will monitor care delivery to assure that established standards of care are followed and to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Job Duties
- Assures the provision of quality services needed and/or desired by residents, consistent with the policies and procedures established in the Residency Agreement and state regulations. Makes frequent tours of resident apartments to ensure quality of care on all shifts and general safety.
- Supervises direct care of residents during his/her shift; provides ongoing support, development, and supervision of staff.
- Administers direct care as necessary.
- Rounds twice a shift on Assisted Living unit and Assisted Living Memory Care unit to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
- Ensures Resident Services Manager, physicians, and families are aware of changes in resident’s condition.
- Ensures resident assessments are completed in accordance with Maine state regulations. Develops and maintains resident Services plans. Facilitates Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
- Maintains the self‑respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident; encourages the highest level of independence that a resident is capable of.
- Communicates with other disciplines as needed to assure continuity of care and services.
- Assists with the orientation and ongoing education of direct care staff.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities: completes review of annual block orders and updates PCP as needed; completes chart audits on a quarterly basis; other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Resident Services Manager.
- Provides assistance with performance evaluations of staff as assigned by Resident Services Manager.
- Licensed LPN or RN in the State of Maine.
- Assisted Living level of care experience, with a thorough understanding of State of Maine regulations.
- Experience working with individuals with dementia.
- Strong team approach and commitment to practicing positive communication with team members, residents, family members and community members.
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and coach others.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- PC knowledge and skills, including MS Word and Excel.
- Current CPR certification.
