Technical Manufacturing Chemist

Business Unit: Infectious Disease ()

Location: 10 Southgate Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074, USA

The Technical Manufacturing Chemist is an entry-level position within the Infectious Disease () business unit located in Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for producing materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests. This position supports manufacturing operations by following established protocols, maintaining quality systems, and ensuring production schedules are met.

This is a non-exempt role; hours worked over 40 per week will be compensated at time and a half.

Position description is subject to change by management.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support the established production schedule
  • Investigate problem areas and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Learn and implement new procedures while observing all safety precautions
  • Perform in-process quality control (QC) testing related to material qualification, quality inspections, and titrations
  • Maintain quality systems and ensure compliance with GMP and GLP standards
  • Create and follow protocols focused on product and process improvement
  • Manufacture critical and non-critical bioreagents for product and manufacturing use in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to coordinate manufacturing efforts
  • Maintain adequate raw bioreagent supply to support production schedules
Basic Qualifications | Education
  • Associate’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field (fresh graduates encouraged to apply)
    or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Technical Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with wet bench laboratory techniques
  • Experience or working knowledge of:
  • Pipetting
  • pH meters
  • Titrations
  • Spectrophotometry
  • HPLC
  • SDS-PAGE
  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry theories
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with moderate supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, manufacturing systems, and word-processing software
