Job Title:
Technical Manufacturing Chemist
Business Unit: Infectious Disease ()
Location: 10 Southgate Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074, USA
The Technical Manufacturing Chemist is an entry-level position within the Infectious Disease () business unit located in Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for producing materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests. This position supports manufacturing operations by following established protocols, maintaining quality systems, and ensuring production schedules are met.
This is a non-exempt role; hours worked over 40 per week will be compensated at time and a half.
Position description is subject to change by management.
Responsibilities- Maintain and support the established production schedule
- Investigate problem areas and identify opportunities for process improvement
- Learn and implement new procedures while observing all safety precautions
- Perform in-process quality control (QC) testing related to material qualification, quality inspections, and titrations
- Maintain quality systems and ensure compliance with GMP and GLP standards
- Create and follow protocols focused on product and process improvement
- Manufacture critical and non-critical bioreagents for product and manufacturing use in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to coordinate manufacturing efforts
- Maintain adequate raw bioreagent supply to support production schedules
- Associate’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience or
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field (fresh graduates encouraged to apply)
or - Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Familiarity with wet bench laboratory techniques
- Experience or working knowledge of:
- Pipetting
- pH meters
- Titrations
- Spectrophotometry
- HPLC
- SDS-PAGE
- Basic understanding of analytical chemistry theories
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with moderate supervision
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
- Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, manufacturing systems, and word-processing software
