Maine Health's Neurology Department is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and patient-centered Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join our fast-paced, high-volume outpatient practice in Scarborough. Our clinic sees up to 200 patients per day, and the PSS plays a crucial role in supporting smooth daily operations by managing scheduling, referrals, and a wide range of administrative and patient service needs.
This position will start by sitting at the front desk and serves as a primary point of contact for patients, families, and visitors. After a successful training period and demonstration of proficiency, this role is eligible for hybrid work, balancing onsite and remote responsibilities in a non-patient facing capacity.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage patient scheduling, including new visits, follow-ups, procedures, and diagnostic testing
- Process and track incoming referrals, ensuring timely completion and communication
- Greet and assist patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy
- Support check-in and check-out processes and maintain accurate patient records
- Answer and triage phone calls, messages, and appointment inquiries
- Verify insurance information and assist with authorization processes
- Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, and care teams to maintain efficient clinic operations
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to Maine Health policies and procedures
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Six months of medical office experience required.
