High School Assistant Principal 2026-27

Scarborough High School has an opening for an Assistant Principal. Key aspects of the work include:

• Assists the Principal with general school needs as evidenced in general student management in the areas of discipline, attendance, bus supervision, staff evaluation, school safety, and school-sponsored activities as needed.
• Assists in effective staff supervision and evaluation.
• Leads a Student Assistance Team.
• Assists in supporting new or ongoing district and/or school initiatives.
• Serves as the building’s 504 Coordinator and serves as an administrative representative at 504 meetings.
• Assists the Principal with all school-wide issues by attending and/or leading meetings with team leaders, faculty, administrators, and school committee as assigned.
• Communicates both orally and in writing to parents and students as required.
• Serves as a member of the Scarborough Public Schools Leadership Council.

The successful candidate has secondary school teaching experience, knowledge of current educational practices, and an interest in all aspects of managing a large high school.

Scarborough High School, located in Scarborough, Maine, has an enrollment of approximately 900 students. We pride ourselves on the relationships developed with our students, families, and community. SHS has many co-curricular and extracurricular activities including Art Club, VEX Robotics, Math Team, Civil Rights, music and theater, and is well represented by its athletes.

• Maine Department of Education Assistant Principal Certification (045 – Asst. Building Administrator).
• Advanced degrees in school administration are preferred.
