Gym Supervisor

Overview

The Town of Scarborough's Community Services Department is seeking applicants who are creative, energetic, caring, responsible, and dependable to join our team as a Gym Supervisor
. This position is responsible for independently planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate gym activities for all 12 camp groups during their dedicated weekly gym time. The Gym Supervisor will oversee the gym space to ensure it remains safe, orderly, and clean, while serving as a positive role model and leader within the camp environment.

• Outside of scheduled gym hours, the Gym Supervisor will manage extra gym time sign-ups, assist individual groups as needed, attend field trips, and support front desk duties.
• Availability requirements and daily supervision include supervising children both on-site and off-site, planning daily activities, and actively engaging with campers throughout the day.

• Must have completed junior year of high school
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents
• Basic knowledge of children"s developmental needs
• Ability to be physically active for extended periods and participate in indoor and outdoor activities
• First Aid/CPR and Water Safety Certification, or willingness to be trained
• Previous experience working with children, recreation programs, or camps is preferred but not required

• Availability:
  June 19 – August 14, 2026, anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
• Mandatory training will be required prior to the first official day of camp.

Hourly rate of $17.00-$19.00
