The City of Kingman is seeking a seasonal Program Supervisor to help lead and oversee summer recreation programs for children, teens, and adults. This role supports and supervises a variety of programs like sports, arts, special events, day camps, and after-school or summer activities while helping ensure programs run smoothly, safely, and on schedule. Program Supervisors play a key role in supporting staff, volunteers, and participants throughout the summer season.
About You:
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, and taking on a leadership role during busy summer programs. Experience working with recreation programs, youth or adult activities, or supervising others will be helpful, along with the ability to communicate clearly, handle multiple activities at once, and maintain a positive, professional presence. Comfort working evenings, weekends, and varied shifts during the summer season is important.
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three (1–3) years of experience developing or implementing recreation programs for youth and/or adults
- Experience with facility or program oversight
- Experience leading or supervising staff
- Valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of assignment
Leading Recreation Programs & Activities (40%): Oversee day-to-day recreation programs, classes, special events, and activities across assigned sites. Help plan, organize, and facility programs such as sports, arts activities, camps, workshops, and special events while ensuring programs are fun, organized, and safe for participants.
Supervising Staff & Volunteers (30%): Coordinate, train, schedule, and support Program Aides, Program Assistants, volunteers, and instructors. Help establish consistent rules and expectations, provide guidance during programs, and assist with resolving participant or staff issues while maintaining a positive environment.
Facilities, Safety & Operations (20%): Monitor recreation facilities and events to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper setup. Enforce rules and safety standards, identify and report unsafe conditions, assist with equipment setup and breakdown, and help ensure facilities are ready for daily activities and special events.
Records, Communication & Customer Service (10%): Maintain program records, schedules, registrations, and basic reports. Respond to public questions, assist with program communications and promotion, attend required meetings and trainings, and support additional programs or events as needed throughout the summer season.
