Job Description
Reeves Construction Company, a subsidiary of Colas USA, has been a key partner in infrastructure growth across the Southeast and Midwest since 1923. The company specializes in heavy civil highway and site development construction, serving roadway, airport, bridge, and military markets.
Reeves is seeking an individual for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator located in Vienna, GA
. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- Adhere to Reeves Construction Company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
- Monitor all steps of the operation to ensure standard quality and operating practices and guidelines are being followed.
- Operate a Bulldozer, Excavator, Loader, or Motor Grader.
- Spread dirt in fill areas, finish dress to plan specifications, load material from stockpiles or excavations, and finish grade with a loader; experience with material handling.
- Use GPS machine control.
- Backfill trenches and excavations.
- Exercise caution when digging around underground utilities and overhead wires.
- Assist with maintenance and normal operating adjustments to the equipment.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Strong knowledge of plans and specifications, OSHA Trenching Requirements, and safety protocols.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work in diverse locations; work sites may change daily.
- Expected hours will vary by job, location, and season; night shift may be required.
- Six months to one year of experience operating the required equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Adherence to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction toward successful operations.
The physical demands of this job include using hands and fingers, reaching with arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, walking, and speaking. The employee is required to sit for long periods and regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception; 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or use an audio device.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The employee may encounter wet or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is typically very loud.
