Overview
Job Title: Travel Pipefitter $25-35/hr
Job Description: We are seeking a skilled pipefitter with hands-on experience in copper sweating, brazing, and installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting piping for commercial and/or industrial refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities- Install, assemble, and repair piping systems using copper sweating/soldering, brazing, and mechanical fittings.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and prepare various types of pipe, including copper, steel, and PVC, according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams.
- Ensure all joints and fittings meet quality, safety, and pressure standards.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot refrigeration piping circuits, including suction, liquid, discharge, and drain lines.
- Work with refrigeration components such as evaporators, condensers, compressors, and expansion devices.
- Perform leak detection, pressure testing, and system evacuations.
- Charge refrigeration systems following EPA guidelines and industry best practices.
- Follow OSHA, EPA, and industry safety regulations related to refrigeration, brazing, and pressurized systems.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace; properly handle tools, torches, gases, and refrigerants.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate service records.
- Coordinate with HVAC technicians, welders, project managers, and contractors to complete installations.
- Provide updates on progress, issues, and required materials.
- Train or mentor junior technicians when needed.
- Proven experience as a pipefitter with emphasis on copper sweating/soldering and brazing.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration piping and system layout.
- Ability to use pipe fitting tools: torches, benders, cutters, threading machines, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in commercial/industrial refrigeration or HVAC mechanical installations.
- EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Experience with CO₂, glycol, or ammonia systems.
- High school diploma or GED with 5 years of experience in pipe fitting specifically with copper.
- Strong understanding of mechanical codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used in HVAC, pipe fitting.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes new construction sites, specifically working on new retail stores. You will also be involved in renovation projects, working outside in the elements or in buildings still being completed. Adherence to PPE standards is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
