Industrial Mechanic - Liquid Terminal Operations

Colonial Terminals, Inc. (CTI) is an industry leader in handling and storing liquid and dry bulk products. We own and operate the largest, independent, liquid and dry bulk storage facilities with breakbulk capability in the Southeastern United States.

Position Summary

Colonial Terminals, Inc. is looking for an Industrial Mechanic to support the maintenance of liquid terminals to ensure an efficient operation by performing and planning preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections on material handling equipment. This position works day shift and may occasionally include weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts. The Industrial Mechanic works both as part of a high-performance team and as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities
  • Performs preventative / corrective maintenance and inspections on material handling equipment individually or with other mechanics.
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs tank fixtures, pipeline components, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Identifies product handling equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots minor issues.
  • Identifies proper tools and spare parts for equipment repairs.
  • Displays proactive approaches to identifying potential equipment issues and communicates issues timely and appropriately.
  • Records data, including equipment conditions, temperature, and pressure readings.
  • Reports equipment performance and repair status to the Maintenance General Foreman.
  • Walks along systems monitoring the operation of material handling equipment (pumps, mixers, cranes, loading arms, valves, compressors, etc.).
  • Completes work orders on various types of equipment such as: P/V vents, PRVs, pumps, mixers, loading arms, cranes, valves, compressors, pneumatic / hydraulic systems, gearboxes, etc.
  • Works on elevated platforms, accessible only by ladder or stairs.
  • Works in confined spaces.
  • Works indoors and outdoors in various environmental conditions.
  • Actively promotes company core values amongst the team.
  • Demonstrates good decision making and prioritizing skills.
  • Adheres to general safety guidelines, quality and operational objectives and procedures.
  • Maintains proper personal protective equipment (PPE) required during specific activities including: dust mask/respirator, FRC, Tyvek suit, chemical suit, chemical boots, chemical gloves, leather gloves, goggles/safety glasses, face shield, fall protection, hearing protection.
  • Other tasks, projects, or assignments as requested by management.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in maintenance or relevant field required.
  • Field/technical certification(s) are a plus.
  • Strong millwright skills (diagnosing and repairing mechanical rotating equipment) preferred.
  • Industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of corporate safety procedures such as confined space entry, lockout/tagout, proper PPE, etc. required.
  • General mechanical skills required.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • TWIC card required.
  • HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Proficiency in field welding of structural steel while at elevated locations and in confined spaces required.
  • Experience in the proper usage and care of hand and power tools required.
  • Heavy equipment operations such as forklift, backhoe and boom truck experience preferred.
  • Basic pipe fitting / welding skills and use of oxygen/acetylene torch preferred.
  • Understanding of all piping systems: corrosives; food grade.
