Kitchen Manager - The 5 Spot at Gaslight Group

The 5 Spot Midtown is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead the heart‑of‑house team in a fast‑paced, fast‑casual neighborhood restaurant with a bar program. You’ll run the kitchen as if it were your own, supported by a strong management team.

• Direct all kitchen functions, including food purchasing, preparation, and maintenance of quality standards.
• Ensure sanitation, cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Train staff in cooking methods, plating, portion control and cost control.
• Control inventory, monitor food costs, and manage ingredient orders.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare paperwork, reports and schedules.
• Conduct mock health inspections, enforce safety training and first aid.
• Handle personnel actions: hiring, orientation, evaluations and disciplinary action.
• Collaborate on menu planning and presentation with management.
• Fill in for staff as needed to ensure guest service standards.

• Proven experience in kitchen management; willingness to learn experienced roles.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work mornings, weekends, holidays and up to 50‑60 hours weekly if required.
• Physical capacity to stand 8 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, bend and reach.
• Excellent basic mathematics and problem‑solving skills.
• Reliable transportation.

Base pay range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year, dependent on experience.
