JOB SUMMARY:
The overall objective and purpose of the Cocktail Server is to provide hospitable service to guests. The incumbent is responsible for serving food and beverage to guests to create an exceptional guest experience, providing the highest level of service in support of the company’s mission, core values, standards, and goals.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a genuinely warm and friendly manner using professional and Kessler standard nomenclature
- Operate the telephone system, answering calls within three rings, using the correct salutation and telephone etiquette
- Maintain the integrity of guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information and key control
- Maintain the integrity of Company proprietary information and protect Company assets
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items, beer, liquor, and wine
- Present menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and beverage
- Explain, pair and recommend wine from the wine list
- Serve food and beverage in a genuine, friendly, professional, and efficient manner consistent with the Kessler image and standards
- Clear and reset counters or tables after each course
- Assist dining room servers in the food and beverage service, set tables, serve guests as directed by the server, keep menus clean, and maintain a clean table between servings
- Assist with providing tables with beverages
- Remove solid linens and replace with clean linen
- Transport dirty dishes to the dishwashing station
- Polish silver and glass as needed
- Seat guests in the dining room
- Relay orders to kitchen through POS and help serve courses from kitchen and service bars
- Total bills and accept payment
- Proficiently utilize property management systems and follow cash handling procedures
- Set up bar and dining room in a thorough and swift manner
- Set up dining room when needed in a thorough and swift manner
- Clear and reset tables at conclusion of each course
- Assist bartenders as needed
- Stock and polish glassware
- Complete opening and closing procedures as well as daily side-work
- Maintain complete knowledge and comply with company policies and procedures
- Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance according to standards
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions
- Welcome and acknowledge guests with disabilities and follow proper procedures to accommodate needs
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship and support the team to achieve goals
- Attend required training and meetings
- All other duties as assigned, planned or un-planned
- Knowledge of wine, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Knowledge of guest service etiquette and proper food and beverage serving techniques
- Ability to perform tasks related to cocktail server role and proficiently use job-related software, property management systems, and office equipment
- Ability to remain calm in various situations, use sound judgment and solve problems effectively
- Ability to work quickly, prioritize, and maintain service at multiple tables
