Our client, a manufacturer of advanced aerospace propulsion systems, is seeking a Quality Inspection Supervisor to lead inspection operations within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. This role combines hands‑on inspection responsibilities with leadership oversight, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will build scalable inspection processes, mentor inspection personnel, and support production flow while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight- Supervise receiving, in‑process, and final inspection activities to ensure product conformity.
- Assign daily inspection priorities aligned with production schedules and on‑time delivery targets.
- Train, mentor, and develop inspection personnel in a cross‑functional manufacturing environment.
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
- Conduct and approve First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Review material certifications, test reports, and supplier documentation for compliance.
- Oversee containment and disposition of nonconforming material.
- Ensure inspection processes comply with ISO 9001, AS9100, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate inspection documentation and traceability records.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist in developing and improving inspection procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone) and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and startup manufacturing operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency and reduce defect rates.
- Support lean manufacturing and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to scalable quality infrastructure as production expands.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of manufacturing quality inspection experience.
- 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Strong proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
- Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ERP and digital quality systems.
- U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR compliance).
- Onsite Monday–Friday in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in hands‑on inspection and leadership capacities.
- Use of PPE and adherence to safety standards.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
