The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing duties to support analytical testing for Intertek and its clients. The Laboratory Technician maintains associated records, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost effective.
What you’ll do:- Receive, examine and record inbound samples for testing through a login process.
- Delivers test samples to the staging area.
- Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and informs the Laboratory Manager of any needs.
- After demonstrating proficiency, performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results against specifications and known expectations. May be delegated to issue analysis to clients.
- Prepares samples and quality control specimens; prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions; calibrates equipment needed for the testing processes.
- Verifies and communicates results obtained and records them in instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets and other media ensuring validity and traceability.
- Maintains documentation, equipment and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
- Assists in training less experienced employees upon demonstrating sufficient proficiency.
- Adheres to the Company’s safety policy and procedures and all company policies.

- Ensures safety practices and policies are followed to keep yourself and others safe.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications- Must be able to work at both the Intertek location in Garden City and at our client’s site on Elba Island.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
- Must be detail‑oriented and able to prioritize, organize workload, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
- Must possess fundamental technical and administrative skills required for the job duties.
- Must be customer focused and quality driven.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two years’ experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
- Ability to handle chemical and petroleum products.
- Proficiency with online applications.
- Ability to work some overtime and occasional off‑shifts as needed.
- Ability to perform analytical tasks and communicate results.
