The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing duties to support analytical testing for Intertek and its clients. The Laboratory Technician maintains associated records, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost effective.

• Receive, examine and record inbound samples for testing through a login process.
• Delivers test samples to the staging area.
• Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and informs the Laboratory Manager of any needs.
• After demonstrating proficiency, performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results against specifications and known expectations. May be delegated to issue analysis to clients.
• Prepares samples and quality control specimens; prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions; calibrates equipment needed for the testing processes.
• Verifies and communicates results obtained and records them in instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets and other media ensuring validity and traceability.
• Maintains documentation, equipment and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
• Assists in training less experienced employees upon demonstrating sufficient proficiency.
• Adheres to the Company’s safety policy and procedures and all company policies.

• Ensures safety practices and policies are followed to keep yourself and others safe.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Must be able to work at both the Intertek location in Garden City and at our client’s site on Elba Island.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
• Must be detail‑oriented and able to prioritize, organize workload, and manage time efficiently.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
• Must possess fundamental technical and administrative skills required for the job duties.
• Must be customer focused and quality driven.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Two years’ experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
• Ability to handle chemical and petroleum products.
• Proficiency with online applications.
• Ability to work some overtime and occasional off‑shifts as needed.
• Ability to perform analytical tasks and communicate results.
