EP Nurse

The EP Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to prescribe, provide, and coordinate care for Cardiology patients based on current standards of medical / surgical and critical care nursing. Assists the EP physician in collecting pertinent data in the care of all patients. Provides evaluation and management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias, pacemakers, defibrillators, monitors, and other devices.

Associates in Nursing - Required

1-2 Years Hospital or office practice setting - Required

Professional License with State of Practice - Required

National Certification (RCIS or ARRT) - Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 days of hire

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required within 6 months of position

• Follow orders of the RN Team Leader
• Provides education and instructions to Fib/aflutter ablations for pre and post procedures. Assist with other cardiac implantable device patients as needed to provide necessary education. Provides direct communication to patient and family members.
• Follows protocols outlined by the EP Cardiologist to perform device checks on EP cardiac patients and monitor patients remotely. Responsible for educating the patient on procedures and the cardiac devices that will be implanted.
• Triage calls per established provider protocols for all EP patients, working directly with the EP physician or other cardiologist.
• Document activities and results in the EMR, forward to EP physician for review and complete billing services as applicable.
• Assist with the coordination of daily clinic operations as it pertains to patient care. Responds to routine patient inquires to determine initial assessment of patient condition and develop an initial nursing plan of care.
• Coordination and monitoring of labs pre and post procedure, including scheduling lab appointments with primary care physician.
