MissionAsphalt Paver Screed Operator – Savannah, GA
The operator adjusts the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade, and finish. This role also ensures the consistency of the asphalt mat and ride quality of the finished pavement while maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Set up the paver screed to lay a uniform thickness of asphalt.
- Apply accurate knowledge of screed operation (correct speed, material consistency, straight lines).
- Take a leadership role within the crew.
- Keep the paver and screed maintained and clean.
- Work nights and weekends as required.
- Operate equipment safely and consistently.

Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentPhysical Demands: Must climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day; sit in the machine and operate it for several hours without stopping; withstand vibration from job site conditions and noise from other equipment; use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions; perform manual duties such as placing paint drums on the vehicle; routinely lift and/or move up to 60 pounds;
meet vision requirements of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses; hearing must be excellent or corrected with an audio device.
Work Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, wet/humid conditions, high precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud.
