Clinical Nurse Risk Manager

The Clinical Risk Manager will be responsible for clinical aspects of risk management and will act as the liaison to the clinical staff of St. Joseph's/Candler Health System. Responsibilities include investigating claims, preparing clinical case reviews, assisting defense counsel with litigation, serving as an active member of the Sentinel Events Committee, providing risk management resources for sentinel event processes, assisting with root cause analysis documentation, delivering clinical education and supporting clinical research.

The role maintains open communication and is available to subsidiaries and practitioner sites for consultation.

• Investigate claims and potential claims.
• Prepare clinical case reviews and primary investigation documentation for defense counsel.
• Assist defense counsel in litigation preparation including depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Serve as an active member of the Sentinel Events Committee.
• Act as a risk management resource to clinical areas on the sentinel event process.
• Assist with preparation of root cause analysis documents.
• Provide clinical education to staff based on risk management processes and data.
• Make daily rounds to promote risk management awareness and collaboration among co-workers and medical staff in the delivery of safe patient care.
• Actively participate in nursing and quality committees dedicated to clinical focus and process improvement.
• Monitor specified risk strategies for effectiveness.
• Respond to adverse events and patient/family/visitor concerns.

• Education
  • Bachelor's in Nursing - Required
  • Master's in Nursing - Preferred
• Experience
  • 3-5 Years in Nursing - Required
• License & Certification
  • Professional License with State of Practice - Required
