Patient Care Specialist

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Specialist performs a wide range of registration and clinical duties including taking referrals, scheduling, greeting and orienting clients, recording their current blood pressure and blood sugars, review of medications, and documenting in the appropriate documentation system.
• Assists clerical team with patient registration, balance and co-pay collections, document management, medical records requests, mail processing and daily batch reconciliations and deposits.
• Verification of patient demographics, insurance and other vital statistical information required to identify and submit insurance claims for services rendered. Collect information required by government and the health system for analysis as necessary. Scan required documentation to support necessary insurance and healthcare claim processing.
• Assist members and staff. Obtain Medical records and develop new member files. Follow up on member questions and concerns.
• Ensures accurate scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations and verification of the patients appointment with the correct MD, modality, special equipment and studies. Repeats appointment date, time and location prior to ending call. Schedules interpreters for patients as needed.
• Resolves patient account problems in a positive manner within established time frames. Provides feedback to the caller with established time frames. Documents all actions taken.
• Obtains and monitors vital signs, and blood glucose levels. Documents medication and verifies medication compliance, according to clinic guidelines.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor s of Science - Preferred
• Experience:
  
  2-3 Years Customer Service - Required. Minimum of 2 years experience in customer service. Minimum of one year of experience in a health related field.
• License & Certification:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required in 90 days of hire date
