Oncology Infusion Scheduler

Responsibilities

• Once a patient has been prescribed injection or infusion therapy the Infusion Scheduling Specialist will receive a physician order for the specific treatment and coordinate treatment using established protocols and resource availability. Validates patient demographics, insurance authorizations and ICD
  10 codes.
• Practices excellent phone etiquette and establishes excellent working relationships with the provider team as well as the infusion team.
• Resolves all scheduling/resource utilization conflicts with patients and staff.
• Schedules all follow-up lab monitoring and physician appointments.
• Provides as support staff to the infusion team.
• Participates in departmental activities to promote patient satisfaction and performance improvement.

• Associates of Healthcare - Preferred
• Certificate of Medical - Preferred

• 2-3 Years General medical office and electronic medical records - Required

• None Required

• Ensures accurate scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations and verification of patient infusion or injection therapies. Ensures that each following cycle is scheduled according to the proper protocol.
• Answers telephones, screen and prioritize calls. Assists nurses and Resource Coordinator with communication across the oncology service line. Obtains any and all needed documentation.
• Communicates timely and effectively with appropriate departments and staff all pertinent appointment information. Verify physician orders and effectively complete them. Provide schedules and treatment protocols to patients and other staff members as needed.
• Compliant with accessing and extracting confidential patient information for patient treatment and care.
